I think, camera wouldn’t stop shaking and he had no face? Sounded like an AI version of a black guy after it was trained conservative talk radio! Sure died! Turned into a Solstice? Jesus Christ. They’re just special effects with punchlines. My theory was that he wasn’t racist enough for Michael Bay to bring back, so instead he inspired Mudflap and Skids.Īnyway, none of the Transformers beyond Prime have anything resembling true character. will bring you to life if you touch them. Finally transforms in order to engage in the most ill-advised solo fight since Godzilla versus Bambi, with no support or intervention from anyone else, despite it being with literally the number-one priority target.ĭies from a bafflingly-minor injury in Transformer terms… gets a eulogy worthy of a dropped French fry, doesn’t get resurrected in the next film, when they discover the crumbles from the Box That Beings You To Life Does Nothing Kills You If You Touch It. Shows up, says some dialogue that sounds like it could have come from that time Gene Wilder did a blackface bit with Richard Pryor does nothing, does nothing, talks a bit more… musses up Devastator Brawl the random green guy with the fuck-face… then sits, parked, in car mode during the other 80% of the Mission City battle. And that problem extends to pretty much every robot in the bay films, leading to their deaths not really meaning anything with a few exceptions (ironhide and ratchet mostly). TLDR: I like Jazz but there wasn't enough there for me to latch onto him like other incarnations. Yes this a show not a film but that's still not an excuse. In Prime, arcee and the cast are still dealing with Cliffjumper's death seasons later. A sentence or two like Jazz isn't enough. They might get a second or two like que, but there's never a scene where we see the characters dealing with it besides ratchets death. With the exception of ratchets (and I guess prime but he was revived). It just sucks that none of the deaths in these movies have any weight or lasting effects. A scene similar to that one comic (I don't remember if it was a Titan magazine or an idw comic) where ironhide and the solders have a moment of silence for Jazz would've been enough. Maybe if in the finale where they're dumping the Decepticons bodies in the ocean, a funeral for Jazz could've happend. Instead of two sentences said by prime and ironhide. For being one of the most popular characters his death felt glossed over where in most other peices of media a death like Jazz's would've had more reverence. It just sucks that his character in these movies is defined by his death.
